lyrics

Last one alive
Roger guitars, Louis piano, Adam drums, Shimna violin

On the African plain the sun is going down
on a weary old beast, last one standing its ground
does he feel a little lonesome? Does he know that it’s time?
Down on the savannah, the end of the line

I saw a grainy old film, of a Thing like a hound
Alone in a cage circling around
Just its bones are preserved its DNA on a slide
A Thing like a hound the last one alive

There’s a bird in the bush calling out for a mate
Little does he know it’s a little too late
They were doing just fine, ‘til the sailors arrived
They’d forgotten how to fly, one of the last ones alive

I stood on the banks of the wide open river
Where the dolphins once swam, they’ve vanished forever
They used to frolic and play before the fisherman’s eyes
In the watery world, there’s none left alive

I heard the tigers got nowhere to live
With people a plague they can't coexist
I’ll be a sad old day when he finally dies
Down on the savannah, the last one left alive
